Trademarks, reimagined.

Hi, I’m Stephen!

I look forward to hearing your story. Here’s part of mine, as told through a few trademarks that have made an impact on me along the way:

(Obvious-but-important note: my firm is not sponsored or endorsed by any of these organizations.)

USA Swimming

Reg. No. 3015366

I am a lifelong swimmer and have always believed that any day that starts with exercise is set up to go very well. I have always loved swimming outside, and living in California has taken that to another level. USA Swimming has registered trademarks for everything from GOLDEN GOGGLES to SWIMJITSU.

City Year

Reg. No. 2043797

Before I was a lawyer, I worked in nonprofits. One of my favorites is City Year, which places young adults in high-needs schools in big cities around the country. This is the trademark registration for their iconic sun logo. It looks better in color, but most trademarks are registered in black and white.

Chicago Cubs

Reg. No. 5223893

I was born in the north suburbs of Chicago and started watching the Cubs with my dad as a kid. The team has many marks, but this one is interesting because it shows that trademarks don’t need to be complicated to be protected and is also a rare example of color (blue) being a necessary part of the mark.

Flat Fee Trademark Documents

Whether this is your first trademark matter or your hundredth, wouldn’t it be nice to have an extra set of hands?

I help attorneys across the country by drafting trademark-related documents at affordable flat rates (often $600-$1400 in standard situations). Whether your client is trying to register a new mark or has a conflict with another entity, I can help. Working together is a great deal for both of us: I get to do what I love and you get high-quality work done quickly so you can stay focused on your business.

Here’s some of what I do well:

  • Petitions to cancel (TTAB)

  • Notices of opposition (TTAB)

  • Responses to office actions (USPTO)

  • Complaints for trademark infringement

  • Discovery requests

Whether you know exactly what you need or want to talk about a different project, my goal is to make it as easy as possible for you to get in touch with me. Here’s a quick rundown of some of the ways we can connect:

Email. [email protected]

Call or Text. 408.340.3562

Video Call. My default is but we can use whatever works best for you.

In-Person Meeting. If you’re based in the San Jose area and it’s easy for both of us to meet, we should! I don’t rent a physical office because then I would have to increase my fees to cover those costs. But I would love to come to your firm or set up a time for us to get together at the Chamber of Commerce building in beautiful downtown Campbell (directions).

I look forward to working with you!
